Publish Awards finalists revealed; NewsLifeMedia leads pack with 20 short-listed entries

The finalists of this year’s Publish Awards, recognising the best in print and digital publishing across Australia have been revealed, with NewsLifeMedia leading the finalist pack with a total of 20 entries short-listed.

NewsLifeMedia, which publishes titles such as Vogue, Taste.com.au and GQ, has been shortlisted in the Consumer/Custom Publishing Company of the Year category while the company’s CEO, Nicole Sheffield, is on the shortlist for new category, Executive of the Year.

Sheffield will face off against Junkee Media’s CEO Neil Ackland, Allure Media’s Alison Rice, Mamamia’s Kylie Rogers and Refraction Media’s Karen Taylor.

Bauer Media boasts 15 shortlisted entries, including in the Consumer/Custom Publishing Company of the Year.

Pacific Magazines, which grabbed a total of seven shortlisted entries, is on the shortlist for Publishing Company of the Year alongside Medium Rare Content Agency and Vice Australia in  the consumer/custom category.

Vice was also shortlisted in the multi-channel brand of the year category.

The leading business media publisher is Key Media with seven finalists. The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia has four nominations.

In the business journalist of the year category, Australian Pharmacist’s Andrew Daniels competes with LSJ’s Jane Southward and The Adviser’s Adam Zuchetti.

Fairfax Media and Allure Media grabbed a total of 11 nominations while News Corp’s The Australian claimed two.

NewsLifeMedia’s Donna Hay is shortlisted for consumer editor of the year, alongside Qantas Magazine’s Kristin Galliot, Time Out Melbourne’s Rose Johnstone, Home Beautiful’s Wendy Moore and Vogue Living’s Neal Whitaker.

In the business editor of the year category, LSJ’s Claire Chaffey has been shortlised alongside Human Resource Director’s Iain Hopkins, Elite Agent Magazine’s Samantha McLean, Mortgage Professional Australia’s Sam Richardson and InTheBlack’s David Walker.

More than 270 entries were submitted to the awards with an expert panel of judges from across the publishing industry scrutinising all entries.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on September 15 which follows the Publish conference, organised by Mumbrella.
