Publishers sign up to CAB’s reader engagement metric

B2B publishers Westwick-Farrow Media and Intermedia Group are the first to sign up to the Circulations Audit Board’s reader engagement metric which reports on the number of people who personally request a subscription for a given publication.

The Verified Recipient audit is an updated version of the Requested Recipient service the CAB first launched 50 years ago. In the past it has been voluntary, but  from March 2011 it will be compulsory for all CAB audited titles.

It has also been updated to report on not only the number of people who have personally requested paid and unpaid subscriptions, but also third party managed opt-in data bases.

Both Westwick-Farrow Media and Intermedia will report their verified numbers in the recently completed April to September 2009 audit period.

Westwick-Farrow Media associate publisher, Geoff Hird, said: “This new initiative by the CAB delivers an extra level of transparency to marketers and media buyers.

“We wanted to be among the first to report this data, as our verified numbers have always been strong due to the quality of information we offer to targeted industry and technology sectors.”

Westwick-Farrow publishes titles including What’s New In Electronics, RadioComms Asia Pacific and What’s New in Food Technology and Manufacturing. Intermedia publishes titles including Inside Film, Government News, Professional Beauty and Instyle.
