Qantas and Disney in Planes tie-up
Qantas has unveiled a marketing tie-up with Disney which will see the premiere of animated comedy Planes take place on board a Boeing 737 and one of the characters in the movie featuring the Qantas kangaroo.
The premiere will take place on September 7 with a competition on Nine’s Today show being run to win places on the trip.
The film features a local edit for Australia and New Zealand featuring actress Jessica Marais as crop dusting plane Rochelle.
Qantas’ marketing boss Olivia Wirth said: “We’re thrilled to have an Australian plane in this Disney movie, who will definitely appeal to our young passengers. We’ll be working with Disney on lots of activities around the film.”
A Qantas aircraft will be decorated in Planes livery as part of the co-promotion.
And John Cracknell, Sydney MD of The Walt Disney Company said in the announcement: “This unique premiere combines storytelling with fun, innovation and a once in a lifetime experience that reflects the core essence of Disney.”
