Luxury Escapes launches frequent flyer partnership with Qantas

Travel publisher Luxury Escapes has announced a partnership with Qantas offering frequent flyer points and redemptions for the site’s 2 million subscribers.

Luxury Escape’s partnership follows Qantas entering similar partnerships with Uber, Hoyts and AirBnB with its frequent flier scheme.

“It’s a really exciting initiative and announcement for our customer base who can now earn points when they buy a luxury escape,” Luxury Escapes general manager Blake Hutchison told Mumbrella.

Luxury Escapes general manager Blake Hutchison: “We’ll be using all of our marketing channels to promote the alignment.”

Luxury Escapes will be promoting the scheme across its websites, print magazine and social media channels, along with an Adwords campaign and advertising in the metro newspapers’ weekend editions.

In September, the company launched a magazine with a print run of 500,000 distributed across Sydney and Melbourne which followed a Facebook Live channel announced at Mumbrella’s Travel Marketing Summit to make the brand “more personal.”

“We’ll be using all of our marketing channels to promote the alignment, we consider this the beginning of the loyalty escapes loyalty program, obviously Qantas being the biggest program in Australia we think it’s a really good place to start so we’ll be promoting the partnership far and wide,” said Hutchison.

“At the heart of the announcement is that Qantas and Luxury Escapes have teamed up and we will talk to our respective customer bases.”

Hutchison told Mumbrella the Facebook Live channel is attracting up to 100,000 viewers, “depending upon the destination we cover.”

Qantas Loyalty Executive Manager Commercial David Young said in a statement: “It’s a great way for our members to build up their points balance to use towards their next holiday before they’ve even set off and earn points on the bulk of their holiday expenses,”

“Having the option to use points when booking a trip with Luxury Escapes will make indulging even more appealing and more affordable, especially if they’re combining it with points used for a reward flight or upgrade to one of our premium cabins.”

Points on eligible Luxury Escapes packages – bookings through other airlines will be among those excluded from the scheme – will be immediately accrued with redemptions being available in coming months.

“The real impetus around it is Luxury Escapes is looking to drive incremental value for our customers and give them something unique in the marketplace that differentiates us from others in the travel retail environment,” Hutchison concluded.
