QLD Gov launches campaign from Khemistry to convince doubters to get COVID vaccine

The Queensland Government has launched a multi-channel push to increase vaccination rates with an ad campaign highlighting the joys people will experience once they get jabbed.

Under the banner, ‘For the love of’, the campaign, created by Brisbane agency Khemistry, reminds Queenslanders that the only way they will enjoy the things they love is to get vaccinated and prevent the spread of COVID.

Health officials said they hope the ads will convince those still reluctant to get the vaccination to roll up their sleeves.

A series of 15 and 30-second ads depicting family gatherings, travel and sporting activities will run across TV, online, outdoor and social media.

Health minister Yvette D’Ath said: “We’ve already seen great uptake of the vaccine across the state, with more than 63% of eligible Queenslanders aged 16 and over having received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 44% are now fully vaccinated.

“But of course, we want to see as many people vaccinated as possible.

“We know there are some people who may be delaying getting the vaccine for a number of reasons – they may be cautious, sceptical or anxious about the vaccine.

“Through this campaign, we want to help encourage those people to access further information about the COVID-19 vaccine and get the facts so they can make an informed decision about vaccination.”

Deputy premier Steven Miles added: “Through this campaign, we want to help encourage those people to access further information about the COVID-19 vaccine and get the facts so they can make an informed decision about vaccination.

“This campaign will motivate even more people to do the right thing, come forward and get vaccinated.

“Queenslanders enjoy more freedoms than those in other states thanks to the way they responded to the pandemic. Vaccinating as many Queenslanders as possible is vital to preserving our way of life.”

The campaign was filmed in locations across Queensland, including Ballandean, Toowoomba, Boonah, Brisbane, Cairns, Innisfail and Port Douglas.

D’Ath added: “Vaccination is a critical step in combating the virus and will help us work towards a pathway out of the pandemic

“I know restrictions and border closures have been hard on everyone – and we want to return to the ways things were before the pandemic.

“We can’t live with restrictions forever – we want to make plans, spend time with all our family and friends across Australia and overseas, go on road trips and travel overseas.

“But we can’t do this unless people come forward to get vaccinated.”

Khemistry, which appointed its first executive creative director in July, last month launched a campaign for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service urging residents to prepare for bushfire season.
