Quickflix lock in US production studios for streaming content

Online movie rental company Quickflix today announced they’ve secured leading US production companies for their new digital streaming subscription service.

The service will run to all Sony PS3 consoles and Sony Bravia internet connected devices.

Quickflix have secured deals with Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros International Brand Services, Lakeshore Entertainment, Content Media Corporation and Pinnacle Films.

Chris Taylor, Quickflix CEO said: “We’re delighted to have finalised these ground breaking deals with some of the world’s most esteemed movie studios and distributors of feature films. Subscribers will have access to great content from day one of the service and with new deals to be announced shortly, the depth of the catalogue will continue to grow.”

“The Hollywood studio deals follow our recent agreements with Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Australia to offer our digital movie streaming service through Sony PlayStation 3 consoles and Sony Bravia internet connected devices.”

Previously just a DVD-by-mail movie rental service, Quickflix founder and Executive Chairman, Stephen Langsford said: “These Hollywood content deals enable us to deliver on our vision of expanding Quickflix beyond our DVD-by-mail movie rental service to offer a digital movie streaming service to Australian households.”

In July Quickflix and Sony Australia signed a deal to stream movies to all Sony devices such as internet connected Bravia devices, PS3s, SVIB-capable Blu-ray players and VIAO computers.
