Quickflix to stream content on TiVo
Online movie company Quickflix has partnered with Hybrid Television Services to provide content for TiVo in Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement:
Quickflix Limited (ASX: QFX) today announces that it has entered an agreement with Hybrid Television Services Pty Ltd (Hybrid) for the streaming download of Quickflix subscription and pay-per-view movies and TV shows to owners of TiVo media devices in Australia and New Zealand.
Hybrid is the operator and licensee of TiVo in Australia and New Zealand.
The TiVo media device is one of the world’s best known digital video recorders (DVR’s) with a revolutionary easy-to-use-interface and highly-engaged customer base. Quickflix’s streaming download to the TiVo media device will replace the existing CASPA video on demand service in December. TiVo customers will be able to access the Quickflix digital service through their TiVo media device as well as other registered devices including a range of smartTVs, game consoles, mobile and tablets.
Stephen Langsford Quickflix Founder and CEO of Quickflix said ‘‘We are delighted to be working with Hybrid to bring Quickflix to owners of TiVo in Australia and New Zealand. This represents a significant new opportunity to extend our reach.’’

Good news for the 500 TiVo boxes still connected in Australia

If Australians realise they can access Netflix (n times the Quickflix library and cheaper with better technology) what is compelling about Quickflix? How can Quickflix compete – I fail to understand.
@Benross, 100% agree. Can see some merit in Chromcast or similar cheap devices to connect dumb TVs to the world of connected devices. The future is software based, with our existing phones, tabs and PCs…NOT with a dedicated device such as TiVo just for TV.

Netflix is excellent except it does not have HBO, since HBO is my favourite TV I’ll stick with Quickflix
