R/GA splits APAC region, appoints new local leadership team

R/GA, part of The Interpublic Group (IPG), will be restructuring its presence in Asia and Australia, splitting the APAC region into two: the Asia region (Indonesia, China, Singapore, Tokyo) and the Australia region (Sydney and Melbourne).

The move is party of the agency’s plans to accelerate growth in the regions, and is paired with a number of new leadership appointments to each region.

L-R: Dorothy Peng, Michael Titshall and Ben Miles

In 2019, Michael Titshall was appointed as SVP managing director of Australia, and under the new structure will continue to oversee the Australian business, including its differentiated product and service offering, along with R/GA’s Brand Design and Consulting (BDC) practice.

Titshall will report directly to global chief executive officer, Sean Lyons, alongside the newly appointed SVP managing director for Asia, Dorothy Peng. Both new region leaders will be splitting the remit of current EVP managing director of APAC, Tuomas Peltoniemi, who will depart the agency in July after 3 and a half years in the role.

In addition, commencing July, Ben Miles will take on a new role as VP, executive creative director for the Australian business, reporting to Titshall as head of the BDC practice. Miles first joined the agency from Interbrand in 2020 and replace Seamus Higgins who will also depart the agency in July after more than three years a chief creative officer for R\GA  APAC.

“Asia and Australia have been through a transformation over the past three years, led by Tuomas and Seamus and it’s important for us to continue these efforts with a renewed focus. They have left R/GA a better place than when they started through their work, people and thought leadership. And they have done it with such passion and grace. I’m grateful for all they have done and wish them all the best on what’s next.” said global CEO Sean Lyons.

Together, this new leadership team will be responsible for expanding and ensuring the Asia and Australia regions remain a connected force for R/GA and its clients.
