Radio ratings: Perth – 96FM halts Mix’s magic run

Perth’s Mix94.5FM will be thankful it made it to 100 radio survey wins in the last results as 96FM has beaten it in the latest Neilsen report, released today.

Independent station 96FM leaped to victory from third place in the previous survey,  to 13.3% share, from 11.7%.

Southern Cross Austere’s Mix still put in a good showing however with a climb from 12.8% to 13.2% listenership.

Elsewhere in the commercial FM market, Mix94.5FM’s SCA stablemate 92.9 slid from 12.1% to 11.4% to third place, followed by dmg Radio Australia’s Nova93.7 on 11%.

Contrary to the overall win, the battle for breakfast went Mix94.5’s way with team Fred, Lisa & Capt. Paul climbing a further 1.6 points from 11.5% to 13.1%. It was a gallant effort by 96fm’s Blackers, Carmen & Fitzi which jumped up 2.9 points from 9.5% to 12.4% to finish in second place after last survey’s fourth.

On AM, the ABC720 was the clear winner on 11.2% listenership head of Fairfax’s 6PR on 8.9%, up 0.2 points from 8.7%.

6RN struggled with a drop from 2.1% to 1.6% but NEWSSR took the wooden spoon, just behind on 1.5%.

In breakfast, Gillian O’Shaughnessy at ABC720 won across both the AM and FM dials, despite a drop from 15.4% to 14.8%. In the AM market the show was followed by 6PR’s Breakfast with Steve Mills on 9.9%, down from 10.2% last survey.

The distance isn’t as great in drive, as ABC’s Drive with Russell Woolf sits at 8.6% ahead of 6PR’s Howard Sattler on 8.2%.
