Radio revenue surges ahead
Radio advertising’s bounceback continued in November, powered by double digit growth in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Commercial Radio Australia said today.
According to the Deloitte-compiled numbers, all five metro markets saw growth compared to the same month a year before:
- Sydney +11.26% – $20.5m
- Adelaide +10.6% – $5.79m
- Melbourne +10.37% – $18.975m
- Perth+7.48% – $8.575m
- Brisbane +4.25% – $10.53m
Overall revenue was up by 9.23%.
The numbers are particularly encouraging for the radio sector, because they represent more than a year of growth for the industry. The same period last year had seen a 4% growth on 2008.
The first five months of the financial year have seen the metro markets grow revenue by 10.64%.
Joan Warner, CEO of CRA, said: “The industry is on track to record a positive result for the 2010 year but must continue to stay focused on promoting radio as an effective and efficient advertising medium.”
