Radio sees modest ad revenue growth in 2011

The commercial radio industry recorded growth in metropolitan ad revenue during 2011 of 1.1% on the previous year, despite a dip of 0.33% in the second half of the year.

Translating to $682.7m, there was growth across all five metro markets.

Adelaide grew the strongest with a 3.06% increase to $64m while in Perth, the market grew by 2.38% to a total of $91m. In Melbourne growth was up by 0.74% to $204m. Brisbane grew 0.69% to 109m and Sydney was up by just 0.54% to a total of $212m.

Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia said: “The industry has worked hard in what is a very competitive marketplace to maintain growth and keep radio top of mind with advertisers over the past twelve months.”
