Cricket the key ingredient in week’s TV ratings as Ten and Nine share honours

Cricket remained the most important ratings ingredient in the second week of 2017, with Big Bash League driving Ten to victory among the 25-54 and 16-39 audience demographics, while Friday’s one day international between Australia and Pakistan helped the Nine Network win the All People battle.

The first game of the international one day series was most watched program of the week, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam. It averaged 1.006m, the only program to draw more than 1m metro viewers during the week.

However, Seven came back into contention in the Grocery Buyers OzTam demographic, with Seven News top program of the week with an average of 568,000 metro GB viewers.

The tables below, sourced from OzTam data, were prepared by Nine and include only the main commercial networks, not ABC and SBS.

The TV networks are yet to launch their major ratings drivers, with the official TV ratings period not due to begin for another month, on Sunday February 12.

The coming week will also see more of a three-way sports battle, with Seven broadcasting the Australian Open tennis which begins on Monday.
