Re promotes Sonja Kallstrom to head of strategy

M&C Saatchi’s brand and experience design agency, Re, has promoted Sonja Kallstrom to head of strategy.

Kallstrom has been with the agency since 2016 and moves up from her previous role as strategy director. She replaces Tom Donald, who moved to The Royals earlier this year as head of strategy.

Kallstrom’s promotion leads a number of changes in the strategy team, including the promotion of Gerald Torto to strategy director after three years with the business.

Re’s reinvigorated strategy team

Kallstrom said the new strategy team has aided Re’s experience design capability.

“This year we’ve brought together a dynamic team to drive Re’s growing capability in experience design. We handpicked people with skills that complement the agency’s established strengths, such as scaling emerging businesses and adapting to rapid change,” she said.

“It’s been an exciting start for me in my new role.”

Joining the agency is Dennis Hurley from McCann New York, where he was VP strategy director on the Verizon account. As a senior strategy director at Re, Hurley will lead the work on Optus.

Also joining as strategy director is Max Bon de Veire, who was previously at Interbrand Sydney. Olaolu Olorunnimbe is another addition to the team as senior strategist. Olorunnimbe was previously at Ogilvy Australia.

“We’ve spent a long time searching and finding the very best hearts and minds to build a strategy offering that is extensive enough to meet both current and emerging client challenges,” said Re CEO Patrick Guerrera.

“The new team brings a real diversity of experience to our business and they’re already hard at work and doing some amazing thinking. They are all super inspiring people, but as a collective they are a true force.”
