Reading Room is very proud to announce the launch of the Reading Room / CIAF Emerging Artist Fellowship.

The partnership was announced at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair over the weekend of 20th/21st August. The Inaugural Fellowship Prize will be awarded to an emerging indigenous artist.

Awarded by a panel of Indigenous Art experts, the prize will consist of a six week residency of Reading Room’s West End gallery in London’s Soho. The successful artist will be flown to London and accommodated in the West End for a two week period covering the private view launch of their work.

Simon Usher, Reading Room’s CEO and Gallery Director commented:

“Reading Room’s Gallery was set up to help artists on to the first rung of the art world ladder and our Foundation Prize is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue this through our Australian offices, helping young indigenous artists seek success.”

Sarah Vick, Reading Room’s Managing Director in Australia said:

“One of the key reasons for Reading Room setting up an office in Queensland was to attract some of the best creative talent in Australia. Our exciting involvement with CIAF this year will help to forge our relationship with the creative community in Queensland.”

Cameron Costello, GM of CIAF said “the CIAF Emerging Artist Fellowship will provide a vital learning, mentoring opportunity for a Queensland artist”.
