Rebel Wilson promises to donate Bauer defamation payout

Rebel Wilson today promised any proceedings from her defamation case win over Bauer Media will be used for good causes.

Wilson – who is awaiting a damages award from the Victorian Supreme Court following her win against the publisher for a series of articles which alleged she had lied about her age, name and upbringing in Australia – Tweeted this morning that the payout will go to charity, scholarships or be invested in the Australian Film industry.

It has been reported the Los Angeles based actress is seekingup to $7m in damages from the troubled media company that yesterday replaced its Australian CEO. Wilson claims the articles may have cost her up to $18 million dollars in lost earnings.

When Wilson’s victory was announced last week, a statement from Bauer said the publisher was considering its options following the verdict.

Hearings on the case continue today before the Victorian Supreme Court in Melbourne.
