Red Bull gives Akcelo wings, creative account

Independent agency Akcelo has won Red Bull’s creative account after it quietly went to pitch late last year, Mumbrella can reveal.

The agency confirmed the win to Mumbrella, but declined to comment.

Mumbrella understands a number of Australia’s leading independent agencies were involved in the pitch process, including Special Australia, HERO, Bear Meets Eagle on Fire and Howatson+Company.

Red Bull also declined to comment.

Red Bull’s media account is held by Havas Media, who was appointed last year. Prior to Havas, it was held for two years by Omnicom Media Group’s Foundation.

Havas Media’s CEO, Virginia Hyland, told Mumbrella at the time: “Red Bull was impressed with our future-forward thinking…We are looking forward to the year ahead.”

Akcelo was also recently appointed by FMCG brand SPC, as revealed by Mumbrella, where it has been made responsible for strategy, creative and design across the brand’s key portfolios – SPC, Goulburn Valley and Ardmona.

The brands join Akcelo’s growing client list, which also includes LEGO, Gatorade, McDonald’s and Forty Winks, which Mumbrella also revealed in May last year.

The agency, which made LinkedIn’s Top Startups list of 2023 in 14th place, has also launched a new talent program with FBI Talent Co, made for emerging creatives and students. The winning professional team will be awarded $10,000 in prize money, as well as ongoing career mentorship, while the winning student will also receive a three-month paid internship.

The juries for the program have been announced, and feature creatives from VML, Howatson+Company, Afterpay, BMF, The Monkeys, Ogilvy and more.
