Red Hill moves to Sony
Patrick Hughes’ contemporary western Red Hill has changed distributors in Australia, moving from Transmission Films to Sony Pictures.
“My understanding is that Sony will be making an announcement in the next 24 hours. It’s been in the works for the past few weeks, and the timing [the Australian premiere is on Friday, at the Sydney Film Festival] is coincidental, but very significant,” producer Al Clark told Encore.
Clark said he’d rather let Sony discuss the details of this negotiation, although a spokesperson for Sony in Australia said that [the information ] “it’s not confirmed yet. It’s not 100 percent confirmed.”
According to Clark, his relationship with Transmission “is very good and remains so”.
The news follows Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group’s acquisition of all distribution rights for the US last March.
