Reddit’s Australian country manager David Ray departs the platform
After close to two years in the role, Reddit’s Australian country manager David Ray has left the social platform.
He was appointed when Reddit officially expanded into the country in 2021, leading a locally-based team of community, engineering and sales staff.

The platform’s local operations will be overseen by the newly-appointed vice president of APAC & emerging markets growth, Durgesh Kaushik, based in Singapore.
Reddit declined to comment on the reasons behind Ray’s departure.
A spokesperson of the company said: “Australia is home to Reddit’s fifth-largest user base and over the past year, we’ve seen an average of 20% growth in the top Australian subreddits.
“As our advertising business continues to scale globally, driving ongoing success in high-potential markets is key to delivering on our international growth objectives.”
Before Reddit, Ray was the general manager of digital platforms at WooliesX and prior to that, country head of Australia and New Zealand at Amazon Music.
At the time of Reddit’s Australian launch, its chief operating officer, Jen Wong, told Mumbrella: “From building out our highly engaged Australian communities to finding homes for local brands on the platform, this launch is just the beginning of our investment in the market and key to our wider international vision as we continue to scale Reddit at pace.”
In January, Reddit appointed its first global chief revenue officer, Harold Klaje, who has led the company’s sales team and ad business growth.
