Redundancies at News Limited as consolidated Victorian sales team launches

News Limited has announced the launch of its Victorian sales team.

The move sees the publisher’s community, regional and metropolitan sales operations pooled into one team – called News Australia Victoria. A number of redundancies will result.

The team will sell across brands including Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun, GeelongAdvertiser, The Weekly Times and mX.

News Australia Victoria’s general manager of advertising, Paul El Deir, said: “Each week, our brands reach over 3.7 million Victorians. The launch of News Australia Victoria means local advertisers can more efficiently engage this network – the largest in the state – with increased opportunities and in more creative and innovative ways.”

“In addition, our ability to identify target audience segments such as young women, job seekers and sports fans in Victoria, through our many brands and platforms, allows advertisers to engage with their audience more intimately and ultimately providing them with a better result,” he said.

“For example, if a property advertiser wants to target home owners in Victoria, we can not only tell them how many home owners they can reach – 2.9 million – but also the breakdown of that audience between realestate.com.au, Herald Sun and our Leader community titles. We can then work with them to create a campaign connecting with this audience at the right time and in the right environment,” he said.

The News Australia Victoria launch comes a month after the launch of News Australia’s NSW team. News Limited announced the launch of News Australia Sales at the beginning of April.
