Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit returns with focus on the customer journey, drone delivery and the role of experience
Supercheap Auto’s new innovations in store retail, Guzman y Gomez’s use of drones and how the changing face of payments will affect marketers are some of the topics confirmed for the Mumbrella Retail Marketing Summit.
After selling out all tickets in its first two years, the event returns on February 28 with an entire stream devoted to a deep-dive on the future of the customer journey.
That stream will include a session looking at the future of payments, with ZipMoney founder Larry Diamond sitting on a panel looking at how the emergence of buy-now-pay-later models and other innovations can be a boon for customers.
Another session in that stream will explore the changes in delivery and fulfilment through the lens of Guzman y Gomez’s collaboration with Google parent company Alphabet’s innovation department X – which sees the Mexican food chain provide drone delivery services for people in a rural area of the ACT.
Chief marketing officer Lara Thorn and chief digital officer Shahrooz Chowdhury will explain how the collaboration came about and what the brand has learned about delivery, its customers and marketing from the project.
Supercheap Auto managing director Chris Wilesmith and general manager of customer communications and engagement, David Bauer, will host a session exploring how the brand overhauled its store in Penrith to create a new customer experience centre.
The new concept store forfeits floor space for stock for an area given over to daily live events, demonstrations and workshops, in a bid to connect auto enthusiasts to the brand.
And the strategies and executions used by bodies across the globe to market local shopping districts will be unpacked by Premier Retail Marketing founder David West in the session collaborating to market the mainstreet.
