Return of Winners & Losers drops dramatically as Nine’s The Voice watched by 1.598m

Winners & LosersThe season return of local Seven drama series Winners & Losers pulled in 646,000 metro viewers at 9.35pm last night after an extended episode of reality series House Rules delivered the channel 1.002m metro viewers in the competitive 7.30pm timeslot.

Winners & Losers was well down on last years finale which saw 993,000 metro viewers tune in, with 2014’s season kick off in early February pulling in 1.005m metro viewers. However last night’s episode did win its timeslot.

Seven claimed an audience share of 19.7 per cent last night as Nine won the night with a share of 24.1 per cent. Ten came in third with an audience share of 16.3 per cent while the ABC settled for a share of 11.1 per cent.

Nine’s singing contest The Voice won the night with a metro audience of 1.598m from 7.30pm, while Masterchef pulled in 1.084m in the same timeslot according to OzTam overnight ratings.

The Voice was the most watched show amongst 18-49 year olds and 25-54 year olds while Masterchef won in the younger 16-39 demographic.

Nine’s Embarrassing Bodies Downunder, airing directly after The Voice at 9pm, grabbed 594,000 metro viewers while Ten’s NCIS, airing from 8.30pm, pulled in 516,000 metro viewers.

In breakfast TV, Nine’s Today out-rated Seven’s Sunrise with a metro audience of 316,000 while Sunrise settled with 293,000 metro viewers.

On the ABC, 7.30 was watched by 650,000, Foreign Correspondent (8pm) had an audience of 567,000 and Joanna Lumley’s Trans-Siberian Adventure (8.30pm) attracted an audience of 584,000.

SBS’ coverage of stage 10 of the Tour de France had 175,000 viewers.

In the news battleground, Nine News at 6pm was watched by 1.188m metro viewers, and was the second-most watched program overall, before sliding to 1.135m from 6.30pm.

Seven News at 6pm grabbed 1.033m viewers, dipping to 1.006m from 6.30pm.
