Revamped Dumbo Feather appoints new editorial and publishing teams
Design magazine Dumbo Feather is relaunching with a re-design and new publishing and editorial teams. The new team includes editor Patrick Pittman, art director Stuart Geddes and publisher Berry Liberman.
The announcement:
Landmark independent Australian magazine Dumbo Feather—hailed around the world as a design leader—has arrived in its new Melbourne home with a stunning new look, new publishers, a new editorial team and an exciting vision for its future.
Now accepting advertising, the first issue under the new team saw sales double in Australian newsagents and bookstores, and subscriptions growing at rapid rates. The magazine climbed into the top ten at isubscribe.com.au, placing ahead of Marie Claire, Home Beautiful, and even New Idea.
After seven years at the helm of Dumbo Feather, founding editor Kate Bezar has passed the torch to a small but talented new team; editor Patrick Pittman, art director Stuart Geddes, and publisher Berry Liberman, and they have big plans for Dumbo Feather’s future. Committed to keeping its unique flavour, its emphasis on creativity and social responsibility, and its physical beauty, they are re-invigorating the magazine with a significant investment, and immediate changes such as new paper stock, and gorgeous new design.
“We’re re-launching the magazine with energy and passion, but we’re remaining true to its soul,” said new editor Patrick Pittman.
Dumbo Feather is a magazine about the beautiful in the ordinary, and the extraordinary in everyday life. Every quarter, it scours the globe for stories of people who inspire us, excite us, or just slow us down. Dumbo people don’t need to be famous—they just need to be people worth knowing.
“There is no other magazine out there like this one,” said Patrick. “It breaks pretty much every rule of what a magazine should be. That’s why I love it.
“An advertisement in Dumbo Feather is an endorsement from Dumbo Feather, and that’s something our readers place a great deal of faith in.”
Dumbo Feather readers are well educated, curious about the world, and spend their disposable income in pursuit of authentic experiences. Dumbo Feather speaks directly to an audience of creative, engaged early adopters who are committed to the magazine and its ethos. They care about ethical and sustainable practices, and look to Dumbo for lifestyle guidance – asking for information about businesses, products and experiences.
Dumbo Feather issue 27 is available now in all good newsagents and bookstores, or online from dumbofeather.com.
