Review submissions not yet made public

Industry submissions for the 2010 Review of the Australian Independent Screen Production Sector have not yet been made public, almost two weeks after the original deadline on April 29.

“The Department is currently collating and processing submissions. All submissions, unless specified as confidential, will be made available on the Department’s website shortly,” said a spokesperson for the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. No publication date was announced.

Another reason given for the delay is the extensions granted to those who requested extra time during the original submission period.

“Requests for extensions were open to anyone who requested this within the submission period,” said the spokesperson.

So far, only industry bodies like SPAA and the Forum of state agencies have made public their own submissions.

When the review was announced, the DEWHA said submissions would not be posted in the order they were received, but they would all be made public after the deadline. Other similar international initiatives have seen documents published during the submission period, as reference material for other individuals and organisations who wanted to consult them before completing their own.
