Clemenger BBDO Melbourne digital lead Roger Box takes Google head of Melbourne agency role
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne’s director of digital Roger Box has left the agency to take the role of agency lead for Google’s fledgling Melbourne office.
Box, who had been at the agency for just over two years, will be responsible for agency relations and based in Google’s recently minted office in the Victorian capital, which is being led by Sean McDonnell.
He is yet to be replaced by the agency after departing at the end of December.
Google set up a Melbourne base last year as it looked to better serve its clients in that market.
Box’s role will be agency relations for the brand, encouraging them to take up more of Google’s products and helping to develop campaigns. He also spent eight years at digital agency DigitasLBI including more than three years in its New York office where he was group marketing director.
McDonnell relocated from the Sydney office of Google to head up the Melbourne branch, and is the company’s industry head for retail in Australia. He was previously with Salmat for eight years before joining the search giant in 2012.
Box joined Mumbrella editor Alex Hayes during the South by Southwest conference last year to discuss a range of issues, including his new fascination with cryptocurrency Bitcoin.
