Rolling Stone Australia announces Tones And I as cover artist for debut issue

Australian musician Tones And I will feature on the cover of Rolling Stone Australia’s debut issue, released in May.

It was revealed the magazine would be returning to Australian shores last year, published by The Brag Media.

Landing on May 4, the magazine promises to deliver the ‘unique approach to journalism’ that has helped Rolling Stone make its mark on the world for the last 50 years.

However, The Brag Media is aware Australia is currently a tough environment to launch a magazine in, saying the music industry is ‘in crisis’, but that it’s the publisher’s duty to ‘stay strong on our path of supporting and reflecting on the culture of our times’.

The debut issue will be tailored to lovers of music, sports, politics and culture, as well as supporting local journalism, says the publisher.

Tones And I, or Toni Watson, saw a meteoric rise in 2019, from Byron Bay busker to global chart-topper. She has broken streaming records around the world and lists Elton John among her fans.

For an eight-page cover feature, featuring exclusive photography by Giulia McGauran (GG McG) and a poster, Rolling Stone Australia spent time at Tones’ home, met with her friends, and was a fly on the wall backstage at one of Australia’s biggest festivals.

Subscriptions have also launched for the magazine, which will be released quarterly.
