Rugby World Cup final pulls in 1.2m for Nine, second highest ratings ever for pay TV

Nine’s coverage of the Rugby World Cup final pulled in a respectable 1.220m viewers on Sunday night. However, the final meant the second biggest audience in the history of subscription TV for Fox Sports, which pulled in an average audience of 648,000.

Nine’s coverage of the final could not beat an episode of Nine’s Underbelly: Razor, which brought in 1.237m, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.

Seven’s Wild Boys fared better than last week, edging closer to 1m with 922,000 viewers. Ten’s Terra Nova dropped from 827,000 to 779,000, while Junior MasterChef held steady with 855,000.

The night was won by Seven News, followed by Seven’s Sunday Night.
