Russel Howcroft is to replace David “Nobby” Nobay as a judge on the renewed season of Recipe To Riches.

The announcement by Network Ten today says Howcroft, who is also executive general manager of Network Ten, will become the third expert on the show, alongside Carman’s Fine Foods owner Carolyn Creswell and talented chef Darren Robertson.

“Recipe To Riches is a great format. It celebrates ideas, entrepreneurship, passion and the power of marketing. I am looking forward to meeting this year’s contestants and seeing if I can give them a hand with their success,” said Howcroft.

Earlier this month Mumbrella revealed that Nobay had withdrawn from the program on the grounds his “passion and focus is elsewhere this year.” The withdrawal also followed Woolworths’ surprise announcement it was shifting its main creative account duties from Droga5 to Leo Burnett last month. Howcroft is a former CEO of Y&R Brands Australia and New Zealand and a regular panellist on ABC TV’s The Gruen Transfer, Gruen Nation and Gruen Planet.

Production has started on the next season of Recipe To Riches, which is a reality TV program that gives viewers a insight into a recipe’s journey from its creator’s kitchen to supermarket shelves around Australia and is heavily sponsored by Woolworths.

Woolworths decision to change creative agency had led to industry speculation that Leo Burnett boss and fellow Gruen panellist Todd Sampson may be in line to replace Nobay but Sampson quickly ruled himself out.
