RyanCap acquires Power Media Plus, expanding Ryvalmedia into Brisbane

Simon Ryan’s RyanCap has continued its acquisition drive, with the purchase of Power Media Plus, a Brisbane based, independent full-service media agency.

Power Media Plus will be rebranded as Ryvalmedia, marking the agency’s launch into the Brisbane market, effective 1 July.

RyanCap CEO Simon Ryan said:” The acquisition of Power Media Plus is an exciting move for RyanCap, aligned with our strategic growth plan for the business. Mark and Kris’ abilities and experience, matched with our growing capability, give us an excellent opportunity to provide a strong alternative in the Brisbane market.”

RyanCap is the digital first marketing and media communications parent company launched by Simon Ryan in 2020, which limits its capabilities strictly to tech, data and media.

Ryan, formerly the CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network (now Denstu International), resigned in 2018 to take on a senior role outside the network, which transpired to be managing director of commercial at Carsales, staying in the role for just 12 months before again resigning, this time to launch his own venture, RyanCap.

Ryan took on the top role at DAN in 2016, following Luke Littlefield’s departure, Ryan moved from running DAN agency Carat, where he was CEO for six years.

The deal will see RyanCap’s first footprint in the Brisbane market, as part of the group’s local push. Power Media Plus partners Mark Power and Kris Yule will stay on at Ryvalmedia, and will lead the business’ Brisbane operations.

Power Media Plus combines market experience with digital capability to offer performance digital, media strategy and buying, communications, content, and social media management.

Power Media Plus is well established in the Brisbane market, with a portfolio of more than 20 clients across the automotive, retail, real estate, fin-tech, healthcare and e-commerce categories. As a result of this move, hires will be made, with the recruitment process underway.

Mark Power said: “Ryvalmedia’s digital-first approach is a great fit for Power Media Plus and our clients, helping us continue to deliver excellent results in this fast-changing and increasingly digitally-focused world.”

Kris Yule added: “This is an excellent opportunity for Brisbane and demonstrates the high quality of agency service and technical expertise available from a wholly Australian-owned independent group.”

The move comes after last month RyanCap announced strategic investment in EMT Partners, an entertainment, media, sport, and technology law and advisory firm. Ryan said at the time that EMT’s media, tech and legal capability meant the two businesses were strategically aligned for future growth.

“Having known Trent for over 20 years and watched the EMT business grow substantially since launch, RyanCap is always looking for the right strategic investments”

Ex-Dentsu, now at Foxcatcher, Varun John, David Gaskill, Andrew Molan

Ryvalmedia is led by Joseph Pardillo, who was appointed as managing director in July last year, soon after it was launched as the first agency under the RyanCap group name. Pardillo moved across from Carat, where he was managing director of the agency in Melbourne, also working under Ryan during his time at DAN and Carat.

Melbourne based digital agency JBZ Digital was also acquired by Ryan last August, with the brand then retired and the agency absorbed into Ryvalmedia.

Pardillo is not the only former Dentsu employee at RyanCap, with David Gaskill being tapped to lead Foxcatcher, the local holding group’s second company, launched in October. Gaskill worked with both Ryan and Pardillo at Dentsu, now running the data and tech business.

Andrew Molan joined Gaskill from Dentsu in November as head of product and solutions.  Varun John then became the latest former Dentsu appointment at RyanCap, joining Foxcatcher as head of trading in January this year.
