Salmat Digital hires ex-Ten tech chief Paul Russell

Catalogue publisher turned digital media owner Salmat, has hired ex-Ten technology chief Paul Russell as executive GM of technology and delivery.

Russell, who was also formerly CIO at Fairfax Digital, joins the digital leadership team at Salmat Digital. He will report to Nick Spooner who joined Salmat Digital as CEO from Ten in June last year.

Spooner said in a statement: “Paul has over 10 years of leadership experience in the fast-evolving digital sector. His deep knowledge, passion and extensive commercial experience will help strengthen our operations to ensure we consistently deliver a high return on communication for our customers.”

Salmat Digital was formed in September last year after an acquisition spree by its owner. The company now owns digital assets including Be Interactive, C4, MessageNet, Returnity, Lasoo and Roamz, which was named in the BRW top ten start-ups earlier this month.
