The Australian Radio Network (ARN) has confirmed it’s lineup for 2014 with Mix FM’s breakfast presenters Sami Lukis and Yumi Stynes leaving the network to make way for Kyle and Jackie O on the newly rebranded Kiis 1065.

Also leaving Mix FM is The Love Doctor, Richard Mercer, who will move to an all new, yet-to-be-named Richard Mercer program from 7pm to 11pm on WSFM 101.7.

The network is also keeping tight-lipped

Sami and Yumi, the first all-female breakfast team on a commercial radio station in Sydney, depart less than a year after their show launched at the end of January last year.

Duncan Campbell, national content director for ARN, said in a statement the network is exploring new opportunities for Stynes, who is expecting her first child in June, however made no mention of future plans for Lukis.

“Sami and Yumi worked really hard this year to build their audience and we thank them for being part of Mix and wish them the very best. We are now currently exploring the development of new shows for launch next year involving Yumi,” Campbell said.

The Kyle and Jackie O show will be the feature show of the newly rebranded Kiis 1065 at breakfast, with highlights broadcast again at 6pm in the Kyle and Jackie O hour across all ARN markets.

Their show has topped the ratings for Southern Cross Austereo’s 2DayFM for 51 consecutive surveys, and has also been one of the most controversial in commercial radio.

“Between this networked show and the Sydney Kiis audience, Kyle and Jackie will be reaching a broad audience and we’re looking forward to seeing them connect with Sydney and, indeed, the country,” Campbell said.

Former Mix 106.5 breakfast anchor Simon Baggs will run the station from 9am to 3pm, when Chrissie Swan and Jane Hall’s Pick Up will be syndicated to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide until 4pm. Tim “Rosso” Ross will also return to Drive on KIIS.

Jonesy and Amanda

Jones and Keller

Meanwhile WSFM’s Brendan “Jonesy” Jones and Amanda Keller will return to breakfast for the ninth consecutive year, and launch a new 6pm show, Jonesy and Amanda’s Encore, in Sydney and Melbourne.

Ron W Sparks will remain on Sydney’s WSFM from 9am to 12pm, however Bill Weaver and Rob Duckworth will depart as Lars Peterson moves over from Mix to host the WSFM drive show, and Richard Mercer leaves his popular Love Song Dedications on Mix to launch a new show on WSFM to be syndicated to Sydney and Melbourne.

Campbell said: “Richard’s program has been one of the most voyeuristic and addictive shows on radio. We’re going to be bringing an all new show to WSFM in 2014 and we’re looking forward to telling fans more about this in the new year.”

ARN is aiming to create a “more contemporary feel” for WSFM, Campell said, as the station aims to dominate the 25-54 demographic.

“Our listeners love a bit of nostalgia but they also know that they are living the best parts of their lives right now,” he said.

“With Jonesy and Amanda as one of the country’s finest on-air teams starring in breakfast, we’re now also moving forward with our listeners and are excited to refresh the new year with them.”

“2014 is going to be a huge year for ARN. Like Kyle & Jackie O, Sydney-siders will be switching to the all-new KIIS 1065. And we feel that the loyal listeners of WSFM will love the refresh of their favourite station, and will no doubt bring across many new fans too. We’re passionate about entertaining Sydney and we look forward to connecting in the new year.”
