Samsung uses tech to get fans out of bed to support the Wallabies in the Rugby World Cup

Wallabies sponsor Samsung has created a campaign aimed at getting Australian fans out of bed to cheer on their team in the Rugby World Cup, which is currently taking place in the UK.

With all of the team’s matches being played in the early hours of the morning the tech giant has created the #WeRiseTogether campaign, using Twitter and an Israel Folau alarm ringtone fans can download to their Samsung phones to motivate them to get out of bed.

To promote the campaign Samsung agency Iris has created a short film starring Wallabies full back Folau preparing for the game, showing fans from various walks of life preparing for the game in Australia as Folau prepares for it in the UK.

The Wallabies kick off their World Cup campaign against Fiji at 1.45am on Thursday.

Philip Newtown, chief marketing officer Samsung Electronics Australia said: “We’ve created #WeRiseTogether to encourage Aussie rugby fans to come together, no matter the time of day, to get behind the Wallabies and to share in the excitement of the biggest sporting event of the year.”

As well as the Folau ringtone, which works on Samsung devices, fans can get a Twitter alarm call from the brand 30 minutes before kick off by retweeting the @SamsungAU Wallabies match announcements.

The brand is also running a competition for fans to win various Samsung products by showing their support on Twitter and Instagram using the #WeRiseTogether hashtag.
