Sarah Wilson dropped from Masterchef

Sarah Wilson has been dropped from the second series of Ten’s Masterchef after the programme makers decided the hit show does not need a host.

Wilson – who also writes a column for Fairfax’s Sunday Life – struggled to find a major role in the first series of the cooking contest in which the contestants and judges took centre stage.

It had already been announced that Wilson would not feature in Celebrity Masterchef which begins shortly.

Ten’s chief programming officer David Mott said: “This decision has been a hard one to make but it became clear the appropriate role for Sarah was not achievable without dramatically changing the format.”

Wilson said: “I applaud Ten for bringing the show to Australian screens in the first place, and for making the difficult decision regarding my role.”

Wilson’s role in the show was memorably summed up by columnist Joe Hildebrand who portrayed her as mainly talking to herself.
