SAS Australia premiere draws in lowest FTA audience in 2 years

Seven’s SAS Australia premiere aired to 467,000 metro viewers on Monday, however it was Nine’s Married at First Sight which won entertainment, with the network also celebrating an overall network share win. 

Last year, the premiere episode for Seven’s second season of SAS Australia had an average of 647,000 metro viewers, down on the 834,000 that watched the 2020 launch. The first episode saw Brynne Edelsten become the first celebrity to withdraw from the show.

Nationally, SAS Australia won the launch battle last year, with its 965,000 national viewers beating The Masked Singer’s 874,000.

Monday’s episode of MAFS aired to a metro audience of 823,000, with the program also winning all three key advertising demos.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 14 February, Monday’s episode of MAFS was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.763 million viewers, including 482,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 53%. This was also the program with the biggest uplift.

Next in entertainment was an episode of ABC’s Backroads which brought in 545,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven’s Home and Away which saw an average of 542,000 metro viewers tune in.

Seven’s The Chase Australia was next, which pulled in 484,000 metro viewers. 

The #1 program on Monday was Seven News which aired to 972,000 metro viewers, while Seven News at 6:30 had 955,000 metro viewers. Nine News had 898,000, and Nine News at 6:30 brought in 872,000 metro viewers, 

Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 30.6 over Seven’s 26.4%, while the ABC had a 17.4% share, and Ten had a 17.1% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share and the top-rating multi-channel on Monday was 7TWO with a share of 3.6%.
