SBS appoints BBC’s Emily Griggs to replace Susie Jones

SBS has appointed Emily Griggs as its new head of entertainment and food to replace Susie Jones who has joined Netflix as  set to join Netflix as creative executive.

Griggs joins from BBC Studios where she was head of development and content and oversaw development and production of various shows, including SBS series’ Mastermind and Celebrity Mastermind.

As part of SBS’s Unscripted commissioning team, Griggs will oversee SBS’s diverse commissioned entertainment and food shows in her new role.

With more than 25 years of television experience, Griggs has produced shows for all free to air networks across most genres, from entertainment, comedy, factual and reality, to food, lifestyle and children’s programming. Her credits include The Chefs’ Line, The Secret Life Of 4 Year Olds, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Dancing with the Stars, and Married At First Sight, and much more.

SBS head of unscripted, John Godfrey, said: “Emily is one of Australia’s most respected and impressive television producers and directors, with a track record producing successful shows across a range of genres. Griggs commences in the role from Monday 30 August. Jones joins Netflix in September, working across  scripted and unscripted as part of the newly created role.

SBS made its biggest commission in the broadcaster’s history earlier this year: a 200 episode cooking show starring former Masterchef contestant Adam Liaw.

SBS has also made multiple staffing changes within its drama team recently, with Julie Eckersley appointed head of scripted and Donna Chang promoted to commissioning editor, scripted.
