SBS to add The New Pope to On Demand
SBS will bolster its On Demand offering further over the summer with the addition of new content, including The New Pope.
The announcement:
Starring Jude Law and John Malkovich, acclaimed drama The New Pope premieres exclusively on SBS On Demand this Summer
Hurrah for SBS!
The Young Pope was so unique in so many ways. It was incomparable screen fare.
If such a thing is possible, THE NEW POPE may be even more compelling than it’s predecessor judging by all that can be found in the web from interviews to video material.
Jude Law, Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France and Ludivine Sagnier are back but with the addition of a strong debuting troop led by John Malkovich but including no-less than Yuliya Snigir, Ulrich Tomsen, J.David Hinze and Tomas Arana as well as guest appearances by Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson.
This is a win-win decision and a very good sign for the future.
The Young Pope was very entertaining and quite fascinating as it addressed the current issues facing the Catholic Church. Jude Law depicted as a rebel but saintly Pope was inspiring as he brought the church back to its roots.
The New Pope is most uninspiring, unfortunately. More like a typical American sit com of sex, drugs and no depth.
A great disappointment! A pope that only seems to be interested in satisfying his own interests and ego, continuous sex scenes that are not relevant to the story, the media representative who was in the background previously, now is moved forward into a token cardinal position and it seems is anticipating having relations with the new pope. There does not seem to be any strong or interesting story line at all in this new series. Most unfortunate!
