SBS and Vice announce launch date for TV channel SBS Viceland
Vice’s lifestyle and culture TV channel will be launching in Australia on Tuesday, November 15 and will take over SBS 2 with the channel to be branded as SBS Viceland.
SBS Viceland will replace SBS 2 on TV and online platforms and will be available to Australians for free.
SBS Viceland will feature the best of SBS 2 news, sport and entertainment alongside the best programs from Viceland – the channel of Vice-produced programs overseen by award-winning director Spike Jonze, which launched in the US earlier this year.
The line-up will include new shows covering culture, music, sports, fashion, technology from around the world.
A marketing campaign promoting the new channel has kicked off across the SBS network today, directing people to make a free call to 1800-321-51 which prompts callers to tell the SBS what they want on the channel or to leave an obscure Australian colloquialism or to simply let them know how they’re feeling.

This will be a top addition to the FTA line-up. Distinct Democrat mantra aside, VICE has been producing some amazing sub-culture documentary programming for some time and highlighting many issues the main news channels shy away from.
