SCA and Ten extend regional affiliation agreement

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Network 10 have extended their regional television affiliation agreement for another six months, as discussion about further renewal continues.

The extension will see Ten’s channels continue to broadcast via SCA in regional Queensland, Southern NSW, and regional Victoria, including 10, 10 Bold, 10 Peach and 10 Shake (soon to become the Nickelodeon channel).

This will see shows including MasterChef Australia, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Hunted, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, Australian Survivor and live sports such as A-League stay with SCA.

Both networks said they are exploring “opportunities to deliver further value to their advertising partners”.

Jarrod Villani, EVP and chief operating and commercial officer, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said: “Over the past two years, SCA’s strength in regional Australia has ensured a great experience for audiences and advertisers across Network 10 content.

“Our ongoing collaboration will only prove to strengthen our services and opportunities afforded to advertisers and further cement our successful partnership.”

John Kelly, SCA’s incoming CEO and managing director, said: “We welcome the extension of our affiliation with Network 10 and look forward to promoting 10’s suite of premium content in regional Australia to deliver outstanding results for advertisers and reliable returns for SCA’s shareholders.”

The original two-year deal was signed in 2021. The decision came at the time after Nine Entertainment Co announced it would end its five-year affiliation agreement with SCA, instead returning to its regional competitor, WIN, for at least seven years.

Ten also signed a deal with WIN in the same year for its content to be distributed across the Northern NSW television license areas.
