SCA announces new workday hosts for Hit Regional Network

Luke Lum and Carley Whittington are now covering the workday shift across 27 regional markets for Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), with Maddy Rowe to take over from Whittington in November.

Lum will cover the 9am – 10am slot with Whittington holding 10am – 3pm across the Hit Regional Network.

Lum will be stepping into the networked role after working on the workday slot with hit 103.1 in Townsville since 2014.

“This is a huge opportunity and I’m really looking forward to being able to share my passion for music with the rest of regional Australia,” Lum said.

Whittington has been with SCA since 2015, first joining hit 102.5 in Mount Isa for breakfast, before moving to cover workday hours in 2017.

“What an exciting opportunity to entertain, and hopefully not distract, regional Australia on the Hit Network while they work. Keep an ear out for the occasional Kath and Kim joke,” said Whittington.

Rowe will be relocating from Melbourne to take the 10am – 3pm workday slot from Whittington in November, which will see Whittington return to her previous workday slot.

“I’m beyond excited to be joining the team at Hit 103.1 Townsville, and equally (if not more excited) to be escaping Melbourne’s freezing cold winter. Townsville is hot, sweaty and beautiful, and exactly where I need to be. This is a huge opportunity and I’m ready to thrive in this new chapter of my life,” said Rowe.

“I started my radio journey in community radio in Melbourne less than two years ago, and scoring an on-air role with SCA was always a big dream of mine. I’m still pinching myself.”

The morning and workday shifts will play across the following markets: Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Fraser Coast, Griffith, Mackay/Whitsunday, Mildura, Mount Isa, Mt Gambier, Orange, Port Macquarie, Shepparton, Mt Buller, Townsville, Wagga Wagga.

The syndicated workday shift can also be heard on the Hit Network in: Albury, Bendigo, Mareeba, Central QLD, Dubbo, Emerald, Gippsland, Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy, Roma, Stanthorpe, Warwick.
