SCA signs deal with major US podcast studio

Fly on the Wall with David Spade and Dana Carvey is one of many podcasts joining the Listnr stable.
Southern Cross Austereo has announced it will be the exclusive Australian sales representative and distributor of US radio network Audacy’s suite of podcasts. This includes the entire CBS slate, plus celebrity-led shows from the likes of Jenna Fischer, David Spade, and Dana Carvey.
Audacy is the second largest radio network in the United States, with over 220 radio stations across 47 media markets.
It also houses a podcast portfolio of over 300 shows, including Office Ladies with Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsley; Fly on the Wall with David Spade and Dana Carvey; Search Engine; The Moth; and dozens of podcasts from CBS Sports and CBS News and Entertainment.
These shows will join SCA’s Listnr podcasting platform, which it built from the ground up, starting work in 2018, launching in 2021, and turning profitable in the second half of 2024.
SCA recently revealed during its FY25 earnings call that Listnr made a $2 million profit for the financial year. Digital revenue jumped by 28.8% year-on-year, and the platform now boasts 2.25 million signed-up users, with more than 10 million monthly listeners across its podcasts.
SCA’s CEO John Kelly told Mumbrella in March that around 70% of the platform’s downloads were for Listnr-owned content. The sizeable Audacy library should impact that percentage – however, SCA will now be the exclusive sales representative for the US radio giant.
Australian advertisers will now be able to access Audacy’s top-tier titles, as part of their overall Listnr audio campaigns, according to a media release from SCA.
“We believe in the power of being everywhere – bringing our stories, voices and award-winning podcasts to audiences wherever they are,” said Leah Reis-Dennis, Audacy’s head of podcasts.
“Partnering with SCA and LiSTNR allows us to extend that reach to even more listeners around the world, creating new opportunities for connection while giving advertisers access to some of the most passionate and engaged audiences in audio.”
Grant Tothill, executive head of Listnr’s operations and audience, noted that Audacy has “many similarities to SCA, in its commitment to delivering trusted local news, passionate sports coverage and the music audiences love.”
