SCA takes the crown for Ricochet Ball 2024

SCA won the Ricochet Ball this year – a charity netball event for the music industry.

The announcement:

The music industry’s charity netball event, Ricochet Ball, took place on Friday, 14th June at Perry Park in Alexandria. Bringing together 12 teams from the music industry in a day of netball and fundraising, team SCA were champions on the day, beating team Live Nation x Secret Sounds in a hotly contested grand final. In winning the competition, SCA will receive a $7,000 donation to their charity, Lou’s Place, in addition to the almost $2,000 the team raised themselves. Team TMRW Music-Ministry of Sound Events were the biggest fundraisers of the tournament, raising over $5,370 for Friends With Dignity. Overall, the event raised over $40,000 for charity, making it the biggest year of Ricochet Ball yet.

On winning the event, SCA’s team captain Kiri Martin said, “There’s a reason SCA always come back to play in the Ricochet Ball netball tournament – we get to raise money for a charity of our choice and it’s always such a well organised event where people across the music industry can come together, have a laugh and can compete for bragging rights! We were determined to get the win this year and don’t worry… everyone will hear about it! See you next year!”

Ricochet Ball was founded in 2018 by DJ, songwriter and producer KLP (Kristy Lee Peters) and music publicist Anna Fitzgerald (ms.fitz communications) as a way for the music industry to come together in a drug and alcohol-free environment, to play sport in a day of fun and music, while raising money for charity. The $40,000 raised this year takes the grand total raised by Ricochet Ball in the four years it’s been held (2018, 2019, 2022 & 2024) to $115,000.

On this year’s event, KLP and Fitzgerald said, “Wow, what a huge year for Ricochet Ball! The standard of netball gets better every year and SCA were the worthy winners on the day – they came to win! We want to thank every single player who participated and more importantly, those who really got behind the fundraising this year. To raise over $40,000 is a huge feat and we thank every single person who donated to some incredible charities.”

The 12 teams who competed on the day were APRA/AMCOS, ARIA, Aus Net Top Models, Future Classic, iHeartRadio, Live Nation x Secret Sounds, SCA, Sony Music, Spotify, Sweat It Out, TMRW Music-Ministry of Sound Events and Universal Music. Some familiar faces on the court included actor and comedian Matt Okine, Danny Clayton, KLP, Hugo from Flight Facilities and Nath Roye from the Jimmy & Nath Show, with ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd also in attendance with over 100 music industry figures.

Players were awarded prizes from Nike, AM Eyewear, Better Beer, Hard Fizz, BondiTony’s, DEUS, Netball NSW, Rolling Stone, QT Beauty, Sontse Tanning, That Hot Sauce Shop, ARIA Awards, Ministry of Sound, A Night at the Barracks, Michelle Grace Hunder, triple j and more.
