Schwartz Media launches daily news podcast

Schwartz Media has launched another daily product, this time a podcast titled 7am, which will be available daily from May 27.

The announcement:

It is with great excitement that I announce we are launching a daily news podcast, called 7am. The first episode will be available on May 27.

It’s a podcast that will tell the news in vivid detail, scene by scene. It will ask big questions and use narrative to answer them. Hosted by Elizabeth Kulas, a Peabody Award-winning journalist, it will be smart, strong and character-driven.

I have been publishing since the 1970s, and I’m not sure a medium has arrived in that time that has captivated me the way podcasts do: not just the technology, but the new way of telling stories.

There is a mysterious efficiency about podcasts. So much information is contained in 15 minutes of listening, and it is done with such lightness. Radio never got there for me. Film takes too long to make. But here is a medium that is detailed and immersive, and can be there every morning.

Listen to the trailer here and make sure you subscribe in your favourite podcast app. It is free to do so – a gift alongside The Monthly and The Saturday Paper.

We look forward to having you as a listener. Please share this announcement with your friends as well.

I am as excited launching 7am as I was launching The Monthly and The Saturday Paper. I hope you will join us for the ride.
