Screen Australia creates Asian-focused Enterprise fund

Screen Australia has announced a new funding program to help producers and screen businesses connect with the Asian screen market.

Enterprise Asia will support businesses looking to present their projects currently in development or production to key territories, including Malaysia, Korea and China.

Screen Australia’s chief executive Ruth Harley said: “Enterprise Asia forms part of Screen Australia’s wider Asia Strategy, which also complements the recent release of the Federal Government’s Australia in the Asian Century white paper.”

The program has allocated $10,000 per territory for screen businesses that have plans of building their relationships in Asia, such as co-productions or seeking co-financing from distributors and broadcasters.

The funding will also cover limited development costs.

The program will provide information on doing business with that country, the marketplace and key distributors, broadcasters, screen production companies.

There will be three round a year.

The first round will provide funds for up to 10 companies looking to present factual projects to attend Asian Side of the Doc in Malaysia, from March 19 to 22 of next year.
