Screen industry bodies unite to launch ‘Make it Australian’ campaign

Four of the organisations representing Australia’s screen industry have joined to launch the ‘Make It Australian’ campaign with events across the country.

The Australian Writers’ Guild, Australian Directors’ Guild, Screen Producers Australia and the Media, Arts and Entertainment Alliance launched the campaign yesterday which calls for greater funding and protection of local content.

Echoing the Australian content campaigns of the 1970s, yesterday’s launch calls for an increase in producer offset allowances, local content obligations for online platforms such as Netfix and Amazon, along with more government funding for public broadcasters and screen agencies.

To promote the campaign, organisers are asking those in the production sector including performers, producers, writers, directors and crew to post a selfie to the website.
