Second outing of Big Brother sees audience fall to 924,000

The second outing of reality TV show Big Brother saw 924,000 viewers tune in across the five metropolitan markets to watch Nine announce the final four contestants for the household, according to OzTam overnight metro ratings.

The result, down on its Monday night debut which drew 1.067m, still won the 8.30pm slot drawing audience away from Seven with Winners & Losers posting an audience of 730,000, down 40,000 viewers on last week. While Sam Armytage’s Bringing Sexy Back recorded its worst performance since its debut, up against The Block: glasshouse at 7.30pm, with an audience of 617,000.

Nine once again won the night on the back of the consistent performance of The Block which had the largest audience of the night with 1.425m viewers, with the network pulling a 23.8 per cent main channel audience share to win the night.

Over on Ten the simulcast of Family Feud, across Ten, Eleven and One, was the network’s highest rating program of the night with an audience of 644,000. However, Save with Jamie dropped viewers after improving last week, getting 421,000 between 7.30pm and 8pm.

In the 8.30pm slot on Ten US procedural drama NCIS was up marginally in audience from 422,000 viewers to 439,000 but Under the Dome in the 9.30pm slot continued to fall recording an audience of 298,000 viewers, down 10,000 on last week.

Nine News won the news war last night with an audience of 1.134m compared with 1.082m for Seven News in the 6pm slot. In the second half hour Nine had 1.057m viewers while Seven had 1.047m.

In the breakfast wars Seven’s Sunrise has returned to earth after its US visit last week with the audience stabilising at 324,000, down from 384,000 last week. Meanwhile its rival Nine’s Today appears to have failed to get much of a boost from its trip to New York this week with an audience of 291,000 yesterday, up marginally on last week where it had 287,000.
