Self-driving car pioneer and former Holden marketer join Mumbrella Automotive Marketing Summit lineup
The co-founder and CEO of one of the major players in autonomous vehicle technology, Apex.AI’s Jan Becker, will present the international keynote at next month’s Mumbrella Automotive Marketing Summit in Sydney.
Apex.AI produces certified software frameworks and software development kits for autonomous mobility systems. The US startup has gained significant momentum recently, with former Opel CEO, Karl-Thomas Neumann, joining the board as the brand expands into Europe.
Becker will fly in from California to discuss the next revolution in autonomy. He’ll cover the opportunities and challenges for the industry when it comes to autonomy and break down exactly what is coming next so automotive marketers can get a better understanding of how that will change the industry from a variety of perspectives.
Prior to starting Apex.AI in 2017, Becker served as senior director of automated driving at Faraday Future and as a director at Bosch. He is also currently a lecturer at Stanford University.
Joining Becker on stage as the guest host of the key morning sessions is former marketing boss of General Motors Holden, Mark Harland.
Harland, who now works with both Motormindz and AGL, will kick off the day with a special presentation on his perception of the automotive industry before moderating the question and answer components of the sessions from Becker, SMI’s Jane Ractliffe as well as a soon-to-be-announced third global keynote speaker.
In his more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, Harland has had senior roles in the US, China and Australia, largely for the General Motors group.
The Mumbrella Automotive Marketing Summit takes place on August 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney. Tickets are on sale now.

Would be good to ask Mr Harland how Holden has done since be and other keen Mumbrella Auto industry talkers rejigged the brand in mid-2015 … plunged about 60% since then is what I can see from the official figures!
