#SendYesHome: Popsugar informs Australians overseas how to vote for SSM

Allure Media’s Popsugar is working with its US team and global publishing partners to inform Australians living overseas on how to register and vote in the same sex marriage survey.

It comes as part of Popsugar’s stated mission to unite the ‘diverse tribe of sisterhood’ globally.

In an email send out this morning, Popsugar Australia wrote: “In an effort to ensure the half a million Australians living or travelling overseas register online before October 20, and vote YES to marriage equality before October 27, we’re launching a global social campaign – #SendYesHome. Every vote counts.

“We’re asking our global publishing, celebrity, and influencer communities for ones share. We’ve created some beautiful Instagram art — all you need to do is repost one of the images attached to your feed or Stories, and change the link in your bio directing Australians overseas to vote here: https://marriagesurvey.abs.gov.au/overseas.

The email also said the instructions for how to vote on another’s behalf were live on the Popsugar website.

“Help us take this global and let’s get those YES votes rolling in!”

The social campaign also features rainbow creative and messaging across Popsugar Australia’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Alison Rice, group publisher at Allure Media described Popsugar Australia as a media brand “thinking globally and acting locally.”

“#SendYesHome is a social campaign every Australian publisher, celebrity and influencer can get behind. We’re asking for collaboration to help secure a yes for marriage equality. Our goal is to reach as many eligible Australians living or travelling overseas as possible, to ensure they are informed on how to vote,” Rice said.

“We’re a media brand thinking globally and acting locally. This is about organising because when we do, we’re powerful.”

Popsugar Australia isn’t the first publication to encourage readers to vote, with Pedestrian.TV rebranding as Ped-Yes-trian for the postal vote.
