Seven adds Glenn McGrath to test cricket commentary lineup
Seven has added Glenn McGrath to its test commentary team, as the network prepares for its first season of covering the game after winning the rights in a deal worth nearly a billion dollars at the start of the year.
McGrath is the latest retired Australian player to join Seven’s team after Michael Slater joined in June and former captain Ricky Ponting signed up a month earlier.
“It’s going to be a great summer of cricket and I am proud to join Ricky, Flem and Slats in this new era for the game,” McGrath sid in a statement.
McGrath will call test matches, while Ponting will also call Big Bash League games alongside Slater and former teammate Damien Fleming.
Channel 7 head of cricket Dave Barham said: “Glenn is one of this country’s greatest ever sportsmen and we are rapt he is joining Seven. He will provide commentary across all our test matches this summer, four matches against India and two against Sri Lanka. No one speaks with more authority about fast bowling than Glenn and fans will be treated to his unique insights and vast knowledge all summer on Seven.”
Seven and Foxtel’s six-year agreement with Cricket Australia runs from 2018 through to 2024, with Seven showing all Australian test matches as well as 43 of the 59 men’s BBL matches each season.

He’s not “the world’s highest test cricket wicket taker”… he’s number 4 on the list.
He is the world’s highest Test cricket fast bowler, however.

Thanks, we have updated the story to reflect this.
Surely ‘highest’ since he’s 4th on the list. ‘Best’ is not really an adequate description in this instance. C’mon this is basic writing…
