Seven dominates TV ratings as Idol misfires

It was Seven’s night on Tuesday, with the network claiming the five most watched TV shows of the evening.

Packed To The Rafters led the way for the channel, with an average audience of more than 1.9m, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

Meanwhile the stripped semi finals week of Australian Idol has not been setting the ratings on fire, with an average audience of just over 1m last night. That compared with Talkin Bout Your Generation’s 1.5m in the same slot last Tuesday.

In late afternoon, it’s starting to look like Eddie McGuire’s Hot Seat progress against Seven’s Deal or No Deal wasn’t just because of Nine sister channel Go’s audience also being counted. Although Go’s viewing is now rated separately, Hot Seat (727,000) was still only 9000 viewers behind Deal Or No Deal.

Tuesday’s nights TV ratings share: Seven 33%; Nine 24.3%; Ten 24.2%; ABC 14%; SBS 4.6%.

Tuesday’s top rating TV shows:

  1. Packed to the Rafters Seven 1.9m
  2. Air Ways Seven 1.4m
  3. Seven News Seven 1.4m
  4. Surf Patrol Seven 1.4m
  5. Today Tonight Seven 1.4m
  6. Nine News Nine 1.3m
  7. Two and a Half Men – 7:00pm Nine 1.2m
  8. 20 to 1 Nine 1.2m
