Seven legal proceedings against Ten dismissed

Seven’s legal proceedings made against Ten over the appointment of James Warburton have been dismissed.

The court has ordered Seven to pay Ten’s legal costs, and Warburton is set to start work for Ten on July 14th this year – not 14th October 2012, the date Seven had been pushing for on the grounds that there were post-employment constraints on Warburton’s contract.

Warburton, who was Seven’s chief sales and digital officer of Seven Media Group since July 2008, is now counter-suing his former employer, seeking damages.

James Warburton’s former boss David Leckie, the CEO of Seven, is expected to enter the witness box next week.

In a statement, Ten claimed: “The Supreme Court’s action today [April 1] vindicates Ten Holdings’ view that it had acted properly at all times and regarded the commencement of these proceedings by Seven as being without any foundation.”
