Seven signs broadcast deal with Australian Shopping Network for new channel
A broadcast deal between Seven and the Australian Shopping Network means a new channel, Openshop, will launch on August 1.
Broadcasting to channel 75, Openshop will focus on beauty, jewellery, fashion, technology, home and health, offering viewers 24/7 shopping with free express delivery.
Openshop is owned by Korean-owned Hyundai Home Shopping and will mean Seven Network is now broadcasting seven channels.
The channel will initially transmit to all state capital cities and regional Queensland, before being expanded across the country in 2020.
Openshop managing director Jason Kim said: “Our busy work and personal lives often mean we can’t get to the shops between 9 to 5. So, we’ve created an experience that makes shopping from home, even easier and more enjoyable.
“We are so excited to be launching. It’s an advanced, digital-ready economy, that is showing huge growth in online shopping. We look forward to making an impact in a very competitive market.”
Justine Diana, Zac Deane, Carla King-Turner, Nikki Vincent, Gabby Berry and Steven Milne will be the presenters on the new channel, which will join Spree TV and TVSN in the free-to-air shopping channel division.
Just what we needed, Another shopping network.
Surely this is a dying way to shop with basically everyone having smartphones and access to internet shopping.
The demographic this is targeted at is dying out fast, seems like a quick money grab until Seven actually finds a way to benefit from a extra multi channel.
For the love of god, the spectrum is stretched enough as it is. The multichannels are already borderline unwatchable.
Instead of a shopping channel, how about simulcast 7TWO or 7MATE in HD, like what 9 have done with GEM HD. Sport & movies in HD is what people want, not more shopping channels.
Another Shopping channel but this time the money is going back to Korea, nice work Australia.
I think it’s great and I’m looking forward to watching it. It’s good to have a bit of competition in a 24/7 Shopping Network and especially with the promise of Express delivery and limited postage rates. This is not just targeted at a particular demographic; many people have a need or want to shop using this venue. It becomes ‘community’ for many, as this particular team of presenters bring a ‘human’ element to shopping and are able to make shoppers feel part of a TV ‘family’ with their very special approach to viewers and shoppers alike. I’ll give it a go! I wish the channel much success.
Why would Australians want to support the cashed up economy of a [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] culture & country such as this Korean investor based Shopping Channel. Why would shoppers want to support international products & profits when the focus shifts should be to assist the Australian economy. As for any “perks” such as free shipping, that would be absorbed in to purchase costs. All take and greed with zero gracious return to the providers who once again suffer in the lucky country?
Why do we need another shopping channel? The products are rubbish.
When digital tv was in its infancy they promised so much, but now that it is in full swing it is delivering rubbish. Why can’t we have an educational channel with documentaries, and other interesting things. TV is full of reality tv programs and re-runs. Give us something that helps children learn interesting things.
Free to air tv will forever be crap from now on. Tv as we knew it will only be available if you PAY for it. Thanks to the continual butt kissing to our politicians by Stan, Rupert and Co, etc the pollies then softened our media laws and letting them continually erode as the years go by…….Hello Crap Tv.

I’m looking forward to the new channel .and especially comparing the prices to other tv network shows..
And free delivery .
Another channel for me to block
I refuse to have pay tv as i will not pay to watch adds.
Would not bother as prices on the shopping channels are more expensive than else where
Another channel for me to block
Why would we need a Korean based home shopping channel when we already have an Australian company like TVSN already providing a great array of products?
Couldn’t agree more. It seems we are being forced to pay for everything these days, things which used to be free services. Even have to pay to get printed bank or credit card statements, phone bills, utility bills etc. Free to air TV has just about hit rock bottom.
I am so excited to see a new channel of competition. I wish all the beautiful presenters who have touched our hearts in the past a fantastic day and may you all touch our hearts like you did in the past. Have a very successful new career. Pleased for your new adventure beautiful people. Xx
Why are we supporting another country again.!! It’s bad enough this government has sold us out, so that nothing is made in australia any more, without allowing a tv channel based in Korea!! I won’t be supporting it.
I love TVSN so very surprised that our lovely 3 presenters, a Philips rep and a model – who we’ve all come to know and have a laugh with – have jumped ship to a risky new shopping channel with very limited brands, no part payments and, it appears from the promo, pre recorded. More presenters than brands because what I’ve seen they have two presenters and a guest for each show.
But it’s only the first day, in time they may introduce part payments and more brands, present live so there’s interaction with their audience.
Stop commenting on things you know NOTHING about. Lots of people love tv shopping . Don’t like ad’s, don’t watch tv !
AAHHHHHH!!!!! Nicki!! Carla!! Justine!! I wondered where you guys had gone! You all disappeared from TVSN and I have missed ALL of you SO much. I have just discovered this new channel by accident and I am SO pleased that I did. I just missed the gem show , but I am looking forward to seeing what else is available. I must also add that TVSN is not the same without you guys!!! AAAAHHHHH!!!! Love you all XXX from Kathryn
A commercial entity can do whatever it likes with its allocated channel/spectrum. An advertiser has the right to present its pictures in the best quality. Unfortunately “openshop’s” picture quality is as woeful as 7’s “food” and “racing” channels at 640×576 pixels instead of the standard definition of 720×576 pixels.
As a viewer, I have a choice. I don’t have to watch these dedicated “home shopping” channels. I have the option to use the TV’s “skip” and/or “delete” channels. Thus I have limited my “home shopping” viewing to those segments already broadcast on 7, 7-two, 7-mate, 7-flix, 9, 9 gem, 9 go, 9 life and 10, 10-peach and 10-bold.
Thank you,
Anthony of exciting Belfield
No way would i buy ANYTHING from this shopping channel !!! [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy]
All u presenters should be disgusted in yourselves for working for a company that [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] this just TERRIBLE!!!
NO THANKYOU!! TO THIS SHOPPING CHANNEL THAT SUPPORTS KOREA !!!
I put in 2 previous messages about this shopping channel and about Hyandai what they sponser in KOREA [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] but they did not post these comment OVIOUSLY afraid people would not buy from this new channel
Hi I totally agree PLUS Hyandai supports [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy], I have tried to post SOME of these comments but they won’t allow it!! Suprise, Suprise
Korea and Hyundai are associated with the [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] and u will know what I am talking about! I will most definetley not be shopping with this company
Hi Lina,
You are aware we aren’t the shopping channel aren’t you? We are a media publication reporting on its launch. We have nothing to do with its actual existence or ownership.
You aren’t being censored because we’re afraid your comments will affect the commercial viability of the channel, you’re being censored because you’re being a bit racist and repetitive.
Vivienne – Mumbrella
A lot of these presenters are from TVSN I loved Gabby doing the presenting for Phillips wont be watching either what a shame
What a shame these presenters have jumped the boat from TVSN I have so enjoyed watching you over many years of being a customer on TVSN so much for you so enjoying your working for the best shopping network on TV. no I won’t be watching if the other comments are correct I will not ever support Korea , I will miss you all such as shame .
Looking forward to watching this new shopping channel. The presenters are a big draw card. For those of us who love TV shopping, more competition and choice is ideal. For those who not interested in TV shopping, it’s easy, don’t watch. Good luck with the launch.
Mumbrella: I cant seem to get Channel 97 on my tv. Am keen to view ASN. Have been an avid viewer of TVSN for years so am keen to see what ASN has to offer. Any advice? Thnx.
A shame they jumped ship
RUBBISH SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO I do not reccomend this programme that [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] as Hyandai supports this
I totally agree with u , Korea with their [Edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy], and terrible shame to the presenters who support this
Maybe channel 7 can put the PAC 12 on free to air digital TV instead of the 7 plus app and then we can watch LIVE sport from the USA on TV
Actually I have found great products on shopping networks in particular skin care that is affordable. After 30 years of paying ridiculous prices at dept stores for poor quality product in expensive wrapping I am all for different ways to locate the best product for me that is affordable and top quality.
Can’t wait to see Nikki, Carla back again on a new shopping channel, when will I be able to watch this new channel, I can’t seem to get it on 75, I live in Grafton NSW.
I find this program entertaining, enterprizing ,elegant, eloquent and
Eunique!..keep it going!.. and thanks Open Shop!
Just another load of expensive crap flogged by wind up mindless presenters
I didn’t know about the Korea thing till i read it here but i wouldn’t buy anything now i do know. While i love seeing the previous TVSN presenters on this new Open Shop (especially Nikki)as she was my favorite i don’t enjoy the 2 presenters per show format. Also the sets seem very basic and plain compared to TVSNs.Maybe its just because they are new. I watch for a bit of fun but would never buy anything from any shopping channel as internet & amazon is usually way cheaper.
Unique is spelt UNIQUE.
I watch if there’s nothing else on, but like you, I would never buy from this channel, but I do find Carla’s desperation to convince us to sell quite funny!!
RUBBISH PROGRAMM, WITH USELESS PRESENTERS A KOREAN BASED COMPANY DISGUSTING !!!!!! SEE HOW THEY [edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy] ON LINE AND I AM SURE YOU WILL NOT WANT TO BUY ANTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!
Tacky, cheap, lacks the polish of TVSN AND it’s Korean owned.. no, no, no…..
What a pity key presenters went over to this channel. I always thought how professional they were on tvsn – but now see this channel as cheap & as previous reviewer said ‘tacky’.
